A typical quilt challenge normally distributes fabric to participants with specific instructions on how to use it. The fabric must be used in the quilt design; sometimes there is a theme given or participants are required to use a particular quilt block pattern. This year, the challenge is to use fabrics or embroidery designs of African ladies. You may already have some in your stash!
The rules for the 2010 Uhuru Quilters Guild Challenge are as follows:
- Use fabric from your stash that has an African ladies design, or create an embroidery design depicting African ladies.
- Create a quilt block, a quilt, a wall hanging, wearable art, a tote bag or an embroidery design incorporating African ladies. Think out of the box, get your creative juices pumping!
- All quilts submitted under this challenge must be complete and quilted.
- To participate, sign up at the February 20, 2010 guild meeting.
- Items must be completed by the November 20, 2010 guild meeting.
- Items will be judged by the members. Participants are not to show their challenge items or bring them to guild meetings to work on; items are not to be revealed to the membership until the judging is complete.
- On October 16, 2010, participants are to seal their name, address and telephone number in an envelope and pin it to the back of their challenge item.
- 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Viewers Choice prizes will be awarded!
GOOD LUCK! LET THE CHALLENGE BEGIN!!!
